| 2006 21 November -- We finally managed to get our Adoption Questionnaire online! 16 October -- Congratulations to Melar's Wild By Nature, "Star", and Melar's Wild for Speed, "Smoke", on their recent show ring successes! In the past two and a half weekends, Star has earned 6 points and Smoke has earned 3 points toward their AKC championships. Both kids have multiple BOB and BOS wins from the classes! Star & Smoke were co-bred by me and their "mom" Melody Falcone of Melar basenjis. The "kids" are sired by my boy, Firbi -- SunDiata Dahabu Firimbi, and out of my first homebred champion, Talon -- CH Echelon Noble Eagle at Melar. 11 August -- We're thrilled to announce our newest addition and future junior handler! Caitlin Marie Ervin was born August 11 at 3:23 a.m. Caitlin weighed in at 7 lbs, 2 oz and was 21" long! 4 May -- We've done a little bit of minor tweaking to the website, adding links and picture updates as needed. Unfortunately bad weather kept us from the Saturday show, but on Sunday Mise was Winner's Bitch/Best of Opposite at the Central Iowa KC show in Des Moines for another point. Judge was Dr. Daniel Dowling. What a nice way to start the year! 19 January -- 7.5 week old stacked pictures of the puppies are up. I also finally added a guestbook! Please feel free to leave us a message! 13 January -- We lost a family member today. Salem, our cat, was the best puppy sitter you could ask for. Today he crossed the bridge, suffering from kidney failure. You can read more about him on our In Memory page. 9 January -- 6 week old stacked pictures of the babies are up. 2005 30 December -- The first "stacked" pictures of the babies are up. 29 December -- Finally -- updated puppy pictures! The babies are 4.5 weeks old, and have call names now. Girl #1 is Gidget, Girl #2 is Gadget and the Boy is Gunner. Gunner and Gadget both have their ears completely up and Gidget's are very nearly up! This is the earliest I've ever had puppy ears up. Tails are up and starting to curl, and they are getting cuter by the moment! Thanks to our new digital camera (YEA!!!) pictures will be updated much more regularly! 2 December -- We finally have the puppy pictures up. Click here to see them. 28 November -- More Firbi babies! Talon had 4 puppies this afternoon -- three red girls and one red boy. So much for that blood test! Congrats to first-time puppy whelper Melody on her first litter! 26 November -- Puppies are here!! Kinsey had her babies this morning. We have two red girls and one red boy. Carlie, Mkodi and Reno's pages are up and ready. 2 November -- New pages introducing our Horses. 30 October -- Litter updates! According to blood tests, Talon is NOT pregnant. We plan on trying this breeding again next year. Kinsey is either pregnant or going through one whopper of a false pregnancy! She is due on Thanksgiving. 25 September -- Talon has been bred to Firbi. Puppies expected around November 27. Contact Melody Falcone for more information on this litter. 22 September -- Kinsey has been bred to Firbi. Puppies are expected in November. 12 July -- New pages added -- About Us and Breeding Philosophy & Puppy Placement Procedures. 11 June -- Firbi attended the AKC sanctioned match in conjunction with the Moberly, MO KC all breed show to gain some more ring experience. He showed WONDERFULLY and ended up going BEST IN MATCH over an entry of 100+ dogs! 9 June -- Some more site updates. New page for Kinsey. I also color coded the pedigrees on the dogs' pages to indicate multiple occurrences of a dog within the 4 generation pedigree. 5 June -- It wasn't until I checked the show results at Onofrio.com, that I noticed that despite throwing a tantrum in the ring <g>, Cooper was RWD to the major again. Judge Mr. Jon Cole 4 June -- Cooper is RWD to the major, again handled by Shannon. Judge Mr. Eugene Blake. 3 June -- WE HAVE OUR FIRST HOMEBRED CHAMPION!! CH Echelon Noble Eagle of Melar. Talon picked up that final major going WB/BOW/BOB! Talon was exclusively handled by her co-owner Melody Falcone, Melar Basenjis. I am so proud of them both!! AND -- Cooper picks up his first major handled by 13 year old Shannon Hall. Shannon is an amazing handler and she and Cooper are making a great team!! Judge was Mr. Robert Stein. 1 June -- Upon suggestion from a friend, we've changed the pedigrees to 4 generations instead of just 3 <g> 31 May -- New pages added -- Cooper, Firbi and Mise. Upcoming Litters page updated. 18 May -- New pages added -- Available dogs and Upcoming Litters. 05 May -- New pages up. Boys and Girls. Links to individual pages aren't up quite yet. 04 May -- A new domain name and a revamped website! Stay tuned for more updates and changes. 20 February -- Another good day at the shows. At the Keomah KC show in Des Moines, Firbi picked up his first point going WD/BOS. Cooper was RWD. Talon was WB/BOW/BOB for 1 pt. This brings her point total to 12 and singles her out. She just needs that last major to become a champion! Mise, Talon's littermate, was RWB. 7 February -- Some more sad news. Last week, Tia strip tested positive for glucose in her urine -- one of the initial warning signs of fanconi. At this time, her bloodwork is inconclusive. After consulting with my vet and Dr. Gonto (author of the Fanconi protocol), we've decided to start Tia on a mild version of the Fanconi protocol, and redo the lab work when her sugar spilling becomes more consistent (right now, she is spilling sugar about 60% of the time). The good news is that we have caught whatever the problem is early. Updates will appear here as they become available. |
